I'm back!

It's been sometime since I posted anything new here.  I have been busy shooting mostly Polaroids over the last year.  Mainly the Polaroid Big Shot! What started off as a few casual shoots, evolved into sessions, larger sessions, travel and location sessions, with a few impromptu sessions popping up.  Where is this leading you ask?  Well I self published my second book, "Everyday People - Polaroid Big Shot Portraits" available through Blurb.

In addition to the book project I have relocated to a new place with a larger shooting area!  I'm beginning to get settled and have done my first shoot.  It was with the lovely and talented model, Sirena Wren.

I hastily submitted to a few "call for entries" during the move with no success.  Since I have started shooting and getting acclimated to the new space, my image "Agony of Ecstacy" was accepted in LightBox Photographic Gallery's Plastic Fantastic Show VII by juror Susan Burnstine.

Wow! 2015 has started off with a bang!

I really don't know how to begin.  What I do know is that I have been selected to be part of two of the most prestigious plastic toy camera exhibits in the world, and I am truly grateful. I am overwhelmed by emotions. For a little over a year now, my life has been a roller coaster of darkness and turmoil.  I know true happiness cannot be attained by external sources or validation from others. Creating and sharing has been important to my well being. I may have been knocked down, but certainly not out. There is no longer any need for me to come up swinging. To steal from a phase from Peter Tosh, "But I got to pick myself up, dust myself off, start all over, again" It is never too late to start over. I wish to thank everyone for their kindness and encouragement.

But anyway here is what I want share. "If Wishes Were Horses" has been selected to be includes in the Krappy Kamera XVII show at the Soho Gallery in NYC.

I have got to post here more often.

It seems I let this part of my online presence neglected. So now that my negatives and myself are under the same roof I have no excuse.  Too busy? Too tired? Not feeling it?  Looking for jobs to relocate? Procrastination!  The thief of time.  Five syllable word for lazy. I have however submitted some pieces to shows.  Lately I have been concentrating more on my Polaroid work, After the Film Photography Podcast Walking Workshop last spring, I have fallen back in love with my old Nikon F2 that I purchased in '76.  That and the old stand by Tri-X. The day I returned form the workshop, I purchased a "brick" of Tri-X 36 exp. from the FPP online store.  I haven't purchased a "brick" of film in many years. Anyway, here are a couple from a few years back I shot when I was in Erie, PA for the Photo Media Center's Small Works 2011 Open Juried Exhibition that I had the privilege of having (3) pieces selected. As if that wasn't enough, it was great to be able to see the work of J.M. Golding!

"Summer in the City"

Last Saturday I had the privilege to participate in an art event in the area. It was great to see some old friends and meet some new ones. It felt good to get back out in the art community.  A good flow of traffic generated some sales.  But what was really refreshing was the interest in the "toy camera" world and talk shop with those with a familiarity with the plastic light capturing devices. I hope to get back out there and do more.  Thanks to all who supported this long awaited effort.

Long Time Gone

Wow! It has most certainly been a long time coming, but I am finally posting again. Much life has been getting in the way of my photography and and my plans for life. I'm getting back on track through the help and guidance of many people near and dear to me, as well as some new "photo acquaintances"  Thanks to all!

On Saturday, June 21st I will be participating in my first art event in quite some time.

Hope Art Center (500 Hickory Street) - Located in the historic South Park district of Dayton. Join us in celebrating the summer in the city with local artisans, food trucks, entertainment, and more!  The event runs from 10:00am - 4:00pm.  This is an indoor venue so the crazy Ohio weather is not a factor.

I will be offering some old favorites such as "Soulshine", "Fractured", and many others. Some newer pieces will be available for the first time. "Neon Rock", "Stone Cold Love", and "Order Up" will be a few of the more recent works.

I do have several rolls of film waiting to be developed.  Darkroom space has become a challenge.  But in time I'm sure it will all fall into place.

In closing, it seems appropriate that my first outing is a show at the Hope Art Center.  I once again feel I have hope.  Hope to see you there!
